When Damon Rosh’s wife dies in a brutal car accident, he loses himself in a bottle. Introduce Celeste, a beautiful woman with an alluring offer – Damon serves 100 years to the Canvas to fight the Levels and prevent the apocalypse and, when his time is up, the Canvas will bring his wife back to life. The Canvas even gives Damon 3 gifts – endless energy, no aging, and telekinesis. The offer doesn’t sound too bad to someone who’s drunk with grief, so Damon signs the contract. Fast forward 100 years and Damon’s contract is finished. Damon waits for his wife to be delivered to him in an snazzy hotel room. But when Damon opens the door, expecting to see his wife, Celeste stands in her place with terrible news. Damon has one last mission – rescue his wife from the Levels.
This book was a very quick read. I found Damon to be a likeable, motivated character. And the ending has one major twist that I never expected! Gotta love that!
