The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Night Circus

Two magicians with two very different ways of practicing their art have made a wager to determine whose way is better: each magician would train their champion who, at a later time, would (unknowingly) compete…to the death.

Years later we meet Celia and Marco.  Celia is a performer in Le Cirque des Rêves, while Marco is a behind-the-scenes man and assistant to the benefactor of the circus.  The two cross paths and sparks ignite.  But is the forbidden love they feel enough to overcome plans of their masters and save Le Cirque des Rêves, all of its performers, and maybe even themselves?

Read The Night Circus. Become captivated by the ever-changing black and white Clock as you wait to enter Le Cirque des Rêves.  Meet Poppet, Widget, Tsukiko and many other fellow circus performers.  See the miriad of tents and attractions, such as the Cloud Maze, the Ice Garden, the Wishing Tree, and Widget’s Tent.  Smell delicious scents of sweet treats like Chocolate Mice.  Seek the reveurs dressed in black and white with a splash of red.

The Night Circus is an enchanting read and a breath of fresh air. I have come to the end of the story, and want it to begin again. Morgenstern’s writing weaves fanciful images that haunt my daydreams.

P.S. – I wish Morgenstern would make The Night Circus into a children’s pop-up, scratch-and-sniff book, complete with a red scarf!  I’d buy it!
